Jingle All The Way

No, this is not a Christmas blog. This is a blog about jingles. You know, those snappy little 30 second songs that tell us about some sort of product? Yeah, those. Especially the ones that seem to get struck in your head and you find yourself humming under your breath before you catch yourself wondering why in the world you are humming that.

Jingles sound simple enough, but a good jingle is really a work of art. A good jingle has to have good music, a catchy phrase about the product, encapsulate that product in a 30 second or less song, and leave you hooked on the song, thus leaving the product in your mind. It sounds easy enough, but getting one that really works is a hard job.

There are still jingles that I remember from my childhood. I bet most people my age remember the Oscar Meyer weiners song. That song was a marketing jackpot and had kids singing the praises of Oscar Meyer Weiners, thus forcing parents to buy them for their kids. They had one for bologna too. I can still remember both of those songs.

Here are a couple of others:

Do you have any jingles stuck in your head?

This one seems to be stuck in my head for eternity...

"I can bring home the bacon
Fry it up in a pan
And never, ever, ever let you forget you're a man.
'Cause I'm a woman
Enjoli"
