The most important thing about the speech that I heard last night is-
First, if you are among the hundreds of millions of Americans who already have health insurance through your job, or Medicare, or Medicaid, or the VA, nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have.
This is a trick. While the law will not state any mandates that will require employers to change, it will none the less force people into the government option. By Obama's own words I will show you how.
What this plan will do is make the insurance you have work better for you. Under this plan, it will be against the law for insurance companies to deny you coverage because of a pre-existing condition.
This seems good enough. Many people are upset that they are denied coverage for pre existing conditions. The reality is, when insurance is forced to take on these preexisting conditions, they will also be forced to pay out more for these people than what they are taking in. It is a loss of money for them to take on pre existing conditions. When companies lose money, they go out of business, leaving more uninsured with nowhere to turn except to the government option.
As soon as I sign this bill, it will be against the law for insurance companies to drop your coverage when you get sick or water it down when you need it the most.
Another noble idea, but if you cannot make your payments or are a huge liability, the company loses money. Sure, you can fight the reasoning in court, but, insurance companies are there to make money, not take care of your health. Health is ultimately an individuals responsibility and insurance is just a tool we use to assist us. Again, the insurance company loses money, it goes out of business forcing more onto the government health plan.
They will no longer be able to place some arbitrary cap on the amount of coverage you can receive in a given year or in a lifetime.
So the government will force insurance companies to just pay everything with no limits. What kind of business model is that? When you sign the policy, you are informed of the limits and sign knowing that you will be responsible for anything else. If you don't like the limit, don't sign the contract. Again, unlimited payouts with forced coverage of people will drive the insurance companies to bankruptcy, forcing people into the government health plan.
We will place a limit on how much you can be charged for out-of- pocket expenses, because in the United States of America, no one should go broke because they get sick.
By limiting the dudectibles, Insurance companies will be forced to pay out more money. While Obama says that no one should go broke because they get sick, he promotes an plan that will force companies to go broke because Americans get sick. Again, insurance goes broke, it forces more into the government option.
And insurance companies will be required to cover, with no extra charge, routine checkups and preventive care, like mammograms and colonoscopies.
Again, the same theme. Insurance companies are forced to keep paying and paying, thus driving them into bankruptcy and forcing more Americans into government run healthcare. routine checkups and preventative care should be the responsibility of the individual and it always ultimately is, either through high tax rates, or premiums we pay, no healthcare is ever free.
This also insinuates that there will be limits on the premiums insurance companies can charge as well. More payouts plus less intake equals a failed company and more people being uninsured and forced into government care.
As you can see, the model proposed by the president is DESIGNED to destroy the insurance industry and FORCE people onto the government run plan. It is the same model used that destroyed the mortgage industry. It is the same model used to destroy the auto industry. After government regulation causes the failure, government then moves in to save the day from the mess they themselves created.
Enough is enough! Stop the madness! We as citizens need to hold our representatives (and I use that term loosely) responsible for the messes they have made. If private companies do what the government has done, they would be in jail. It's time to get back to some common sense.
