Why Does it Matter?

Many people today will make claims that the Bible is not true, or not completely true.  They will try and tell you that the bible was just a collection of works written by men, and men who make mistakes, errors, and lies; men who make things up for the purposes of power, control, and money.  They will tell you the writers were just a bunch of ignorant backwards people who, if they could not explain something, would just say “God did it.”   They will tell you the Bible stories are just borrowed fables from other made up religions.  They will tell you that the Bible is full of lies, immoral, bigoted, and unjust.    People will say all kinds of things about the bible, either to get you to shut up from talking about it, or to try and make you change your mind from believing it.

If the Bible were any or all of these things, why does it matter?  2 timothy 3:16 tells us that All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.  Now, if the bible is any of those things that unbelievers charge it to be, what does that make Yahweh if He inspired it?  Just like any of the false gods.  Is a lying immoral bigoted unjust misogynistic genocidal god made up in the minds of men just to get your money and manipulate you worthy of any kind of worship or praise?  For Yahweh to be real, for Yahweh to be true, Yahweh must at all times be truthful, just, honest, fair, good, and moral.  Since Yahweh is revealed in the bible and inspired by Him, then the bible must also be completely true and without error.
Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever.

If only parts of the Bible are true and others are not, then which ones are truth and which ones are not?  You can’t.  Rather than an all true Yahweh inspired word that must be adhered to and heard, you end up with a manmade belief system of picking and choosing what one likes and discarding the rest.  Or, you end up with people who just reject all of it.  Either the bible is ALL true, or none of it is.  There is no 50/50.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Revelation 3:14-16

14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Why all this is so important is that our eternal destiny rides upon the truth of the Bible.  If there is any untruth in scripture, and we can’t say what parts are true and what parts are not, it leaves us in danger of eternal damnation.   How do we know that Jesus died on a cross, shed his precious blood in payment for our sins if we believe only parts of scripture are true?  We can’t hold that belief in any certainty if other parts of scripture are lies.  Neither can you play the game of, maybe it’s true so I’ll just go to church for insurance.  It is all or nothing with
Yahweh. Yahweh wants all of you, 100% of you, but He won’t take you if you are not 100% submitted to Him.  You can’t be 100% submitted to Him if you don’t believe ALL of His word.

Now, you can’t know for sure that the word of Yahweh as presented in the Bible is completely and literally true if you are not taking time to spend reading, studying, and meditating His word in a prayerful attitude, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

You’ll never know the fullness of Yahweh, if you don’t take the time to get to know Him in His word.  You will never know the truthfulness of Yahweh’s ways if you don’t apply them in your life and see if they are true.  This is not an exercise in philosophy.  These are matters of your eternal destination.  Take Yahweh seriously.  Take His word seriously. Study and be prepared for you will be called on to answer why you believe against some of the most heinous charges.

Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Remember,

Galatians 5:9

A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
